Our History

In 1966, a group of independent auto agents decided to pool their resources to form a Yellow pages advertising cooperative. The name that the group chose as their heading --AAACO -- made them the first thing listed under "insurance," and through advertising as a collective, they all saved on advertising costs. Later, this group of agents met to discuss the California Automobile Assigned Risk Plan's intention to expand their coverage beyond basic liability. During their successful fight against CAARP's proposed expansion, the group discovered that they had many auto issues in common, issues that other agent's associations were choosing to ignore.

They realized that there was truly strength in numbers and that they could accomplish much more as a united force than as individuals. Thus the American Agents Alliance was born. With the inherent and necessary changes in the industry, The Alliance has grown and adapted, to best serve our members, to become The Alliance of Insurance Agents & Brokers!

Today, The Alliance is still as headstrong and driven as ever, fighting to protect the rights of independent personal and commercial lines agents brokers throughout California. Just as the early founders of the Alliance discovered, a unified association of like-minded agents and brokers can and do make a distinct difference in decisions affecting the insurance industry. But in order to maintain an effective presence and continue to successfully represent the interest of our members, the Alliance needs you!

Join The Alliance of Insurance Agents and Brokers today! and let your voice be heard!
